LED-MARTIN GmbH is launching the first approved high-beam headlight for license plate holders on the front of vehicles. The LPlight 2E license plate holder with integrated high-beam headlight was developed specifically for the German market and meets a key legal requirement:
High-beam headlights may only be operated in pairs in Germany.
That is precisely why this license plate holder integrates two type-approved high-beam headlights in a single housing. The result is a compact, clean, and legally compliant solution for retrofitting high beams to the front of the vehicle—without additional attachments or individual housings. The two high-beam headlights are optimally coordinated and deliver a long range with a neutral white light color.

Connection options for the remote headlights on the LPlight 2E license plate holder
Here you will find the most common ways to connect the approved long-range headlights to the LPlight 2E license plate holder (100W | 2x Ref 25, type-approved as a pair). Depending on the vehicle, desired comfort, and effort, there are several options available.
Option 1: Relay connection directly to the existing high beam
The simplest and most affordable solution is to connect via a standard relay.
The power for the additional high-beam headlights comes directly from the battery and is fused separately (separate fuse).
The control signal for the relay is tapped from the vehicle's existing high beam/high beam signal – e.g., on the halogen high beam.
Advantage: Very inexpensive; relays are often available for around $2–3 from accessory retailers.
Option 2: Universal connection cable from our warehouse
Alternatively, we offer a universal connection cable that allows for flexible control.
Depending on the desired operation, the high beams can be connected:
- via the remote headlight/high beam signal and additionally via the position light
- or via the illuminated switches supplied
Advantage: Clean solution with more options for operation and integration.
Option 3: Plug-and-play wiring harness via the XBB system (OBD2)
For a particularly convenient plug-and-play solution, we offer a ready-made wiring harness in combination with the XBB system.
The XBB system reads the high beam signal via the OBD2 interface and transmits it directly to a two-channel relay.
The connection is made via plug-and-play cables, which we provide.
Additionally: The color of the position light can be selected.
Advantage: Very clean installation without the need to tap into signal lines, ideal for modern vehicles.
Option 4: Connection variant as a backup/supplement
If you would like to add a fourth option, the following methods are commonly used in practice:
- Vehicle-specific cable set (depending on model, if available)
- Connection via a CAN/LIN interface adapter (for vehicles where a direct high beam signal is difficult to access)

Note
Regardless of the connection type selected, we generally recommend: separate fusing, sufficiently dimensioned cable cross-sections, and professional installation—especially for powerful auxiliary headlights.
